Fridays route into Nashville
History marker about James Gentry on yesterdays route in Indiana.
Yesterday we stopped at Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial in Lincoln City Indiana for lunch. Memorial and gravesite of Nancy Hanks Lincoln. She died from an illness brought about by "milk poisoning". A poison found in the snake milk plant found throughout the Ohio River valley. Apparently cows that have eaten snake root transfer the poison through their milk to humans. Not until the 20th century was the poison discovered to be snakeroot. Advancements in modern dairy practices illuminate the threat today.
Tony Snyder enjoying the ride today.
Sean, Matt and Mike head up the one of the many hills today.
This was cool. Crossing the Green River on the Rochester Ferry. Transferring from Butler to Ohio County on Rt 369. This ferry is free, operated by the state. It is a cable guided, motor prop driven ferry.
Everybody and support truck fit on the platform.
Mike Wadas enjoying the day.
Lots of open country.
Taking a break from the climbing.
There have been some bumps and bruises along. Fortunately no one was serious injured. Cliff shows off his wounds.
Everyone together at the Russellville fire house.
They really know how to smoke. The captain made this smoker from a LP gas tank. Pork shoulder and brisket were on the menu.
Mark cooked some of his famous steak taco's to compliment the meal.
Is this the eclipse everyone was talking about?
